About the host:

I have been producing weekly radio show for almost 5 years. First on KOWS in Sebastopol and now KWTF since late 2017. I’ve lived in Sonoma County since 1992 in Sebastopol, Two Rock of Petaluma for 14 years and East Santa Rosa since 2009. I am married and have a 11 yr old son and a passionate mountain biker and father. My son has attended Sebastopol Waldorf Charter School since 2010. I originally grew up in Southern California and consider myself a refugee from behind the Orange Curtain. I Moved to Berkeley in 1988 and consider that the best move of my life.

I have a BA in Psychology and MA in Counseling from Sonoma State University. I am a licensed Marriage Family Therapist (MFT) and work full time for Sonoma County Mental Health. My job in mental health has honed my interview and listening skills and be an asset for radio interviews and discussions.

I was active in Occupy Sonoma County with focus on GMO’s. In 2013 I organized against the Paul Hobbs orchard conversion in Sebastopol. Also active in my union at work as shop steward and bargaining team member. My activist background is organizing civil disobedience in the 1980’s against US militarism in Central America and the Middle East.

I Hear You Rockin’

Tuesdays, 9AM to 11am

I started the show, “I Hear You Rockin’” in 1986 in Mendocino, serving all of the county and worldwide once streaming appeared. The concept of the show is to provide stirring performances, unplugged sessions, and electrifying covers of rock, soul, and blues! Onstage gems from Al Green to Green Day, Savoy Brown to Sheryl Crow! Groove tunes from the artists you know and love. Plus, trivia in abundance! Rock news, history, birthdays and lots more. Plus, “The Mendo Moment”, which showcases the finest musical artists from Mendocino County – their music, interviews, and upcoming gigs. All in all, you’ll be glad you tuned in!

With over 35 years on air, I’m a veteran of the airwaves and bring a lot of love and laughter into the show. My start in radio was in 1982, on the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation, when asked to join the staff of KIDE, the 1st Native American Public Broadcasting Station in California. After 4 years, I moved back to my native Fort Bragg, and began many years of announcing at KMFB (later to become KUNK). Now living in Sonoma County, I’m ready to deliver the goods. No standing in line, sitting in the nose bleed section – you’ll have front row seats to jaw-dropping concert tracks designed to thrill and amaze! ”I Hear You Rockin’” is a Vinyl Friendly Production.

Teen Beat

Monday nights from 6 to 8 PM you’ll find SR local, Pittsburgh, PA>Portland, Oregon transplant Kevin Olson playing the latest college rock and underground hits. Spanning 6 decades you’ll find something you dig in this eclectic collection of what would are structured songs from the heights of the ’90s indie rock spaz (Pavement, Guided By Voices, Nirvana) back to the free form style of ’60s + ’70s German and Scandi prog/psychedelic (Can, Träd Gräs och Stenar, Neu!). A more modern touch will be added focusing on b-sides, rare tracks + covers from Bay Area srtists like Ty Segall + Thee Oh Sees. I’ll fill listeners in on the background of key tracks and updates of what the best artists are up to now. Don’t be surprised if you hear Deerhunter segue into The Ronnettes! Soccer updates will be mandatory when relevant, the Portland Timbers and USMNT will be focused upon. Dig it!
