Sprouts: Radio From the Grassroots

Wednesdays, 6:30 to 7am PST

This half-hour newsmagazine brings new voices to the airwaves, broadcasting stories from local communities with national significance. The features are produced independently, but are generally tied by a common theme. We aim to bring unique voices from many individual parts of the country, joined together within the context of issues of national scope. We always welcome new members and provide support for to them via conference calls and other forms of communication. We seek diverse voices and viewpoints, new producers coming to the air, and the unique viewpoints from local areas.

DJ Broken Record is a producer and radio host in Santa Rosa, CA.

“Entertainism is the science of amusing yourself in order to amuse others. People used to come up to me in the early days of Gonzalez and say ‘Oh, your personality is taking away from the music.’ Then I made solo piano, and they’re like, ‘Oh we’re so happy, now we can take you seriously!’ Well screw them, because credibility and seriousness IS the problem. Entertainment isn’t killing music, it’s music that’s killing entertainment.” – Chilly Gonzalez

Peace Paradigm Radio

Tuesdays from 6 to 7pm PST

What you can tune into when you tune out from the corporate mass media! Hosted by Stephanie Van Hook and Michael Nagler, PPR promotes the transition to a nonviolent future by making the logic, history, and yet-unexplored potential of nonviolence more accessible to activists and agents of cultural change (which ultimately includes all of us). We help people in any walk of life discover their innate capacity for nonviolence and use it more strategically for long-term transformation of themselves and the world, focusing on the root causes (sometimes called “upstream” causes) of injustice, competition, and violence. Ultimately we work to replace the prevailing worldview with one that rests upon a much higher image of the human being, a world informed by nonviolence and the sanctity of all life.

Our vision is of a world transformed by an awareness of the true meaning of human destiny and the innate potential of every person; where life is sacred in all its forms and where human systems, in harmony with nature, foster and sustain that life.  A world where conflict is rare and, when it does occur, can always be addressed by the creative energy of nonviolence.  This will be a world where unarmed peacekeeping has replaced military intervention, restorative justice has replaced retribution, economies of needs based on simplicity and harmony with the natural environment have replaced consumerism, among other essential changes.
